Meet Carolyne Naomi – Recording Artist, Songwriter, Guitarist
Carolyne Naomi is a fresh face on the international music scene. Born and bred in Lagos, Nigeria and currently based in Minneapolis, USA, Carolyne’s music influences are a combination of 80’s and 90’s R&B, Soul, Pop, Gospel, Afro beats, and Jazz.
At 9 years old, she discovered her love for music when she penned her very first original composition. Carolyne picked up guitar as a teenager; with her new instrument, she wrote more songs, performed on different stages, becoming a contestant on the premier edition of MTN Project Fame West Africa, a music competition/reality TV show that aired in various parts of the African continent. Her nickname during the show was “the guitar girl”.
Carolyne fine-tuned her writing skills by writing radio jingles for Beat 99.9 FM and other urban radio stations in Lagos. She also wrote one for renowned on-air personality, IK Osakioduwa, host of Big Brother Nigeria and The Voice Nigeria.
With a Bachelors degree in English Language and a Masters in Media and Communication, Carolyne’s passion for music led her to Minneapolis to further her music studies at the renowned McNally Smith College of Music in St Paul. While furthering her music education, Carolyne caught the eye of British-born Nigerian, Minneapolis based music producer, artist manager and Savannah Street Music founding member, Ben Obi, whose credits include a 20-year career with chart topping songs in the UK and a list of over 1000 commercially released songs. Ben Obi realized Carolyne’s immense talent and signed her to an artist development/music production deal.
Stay tuned for Carolyne’s debut EP – Guitar, Voice & Soul – coming 2018…
